We established our service in 2003 when Janis began watching pets in the clients own homes. Her theory was the pets would be more comfortable staying in their own home environment. There was no need to transport your pet(s). She knew first hand the stress of finding someone reliable to watch her own precious pets. Friends were always willing, but she hated imposing. She had 2 dogs and a cat at the time. She would tell her clients “Less stress for the pets and less stress for the owners!” The success of the business in Florida, attested to the correctness of her theory. The business and Jan’s reputation grew steadily as did her clientele.
When she married and moved to Columbia, South Carolina, Jerry, her spouse knew how much she loved animals. Jerry knew this was more than a job to Janis, this was her passion! As an example she has raised dogs, cats, ferrets, and cockatiels. We currently have 2 dogs, 1 cat, 2 ferrets, an aquarium and a koi pond. Together we created J & J Professional Pet Sitting.
